Eat that Frog with a Pomodoro
As the world is going and our loves are too short to understand it. We have a too short time to live our life. To better, healthy, or good life is to spend a life with rules and timeliness. We are too much busy in our daily routine as we have no time for ourselves. The question that arises here is that we are committed with ourselves to following a timetable to make life easy.
For example, I want to read an opinion of the newspaper that almost takes15 to 20 min. But I spent one and half hours reading the opinion. As the required time for reading an opinion is short bit almost I had done lots of time in reading the opinion, then where is the rest of the time I spend. I will try to explain this according to the Pomodoro technique.
The Pomodoro Technique was developed in the late 1980s by then university student Francesco Cirillo. Cirillo was struggling to focus on his studies and complete assignments. Feeling overwhelmed, he asked himself to commit to just 10 minutes of focused study time. By this technique, we complete our work on time without any distractors.
Now I am sharing an interesting story about cleaning my hostel with my friends. Nowadays, Ramadan is going on and Sehri or Iftaar is taking place in our hostel as we are committed to making sehri or iftari by our hand in a hostel. This is very frustrating that the cleanliness is very difficult in the hostel. As we are busy too much or due to Ramadan, we had not enough energy in a day to work on something. So, we do have not enough time the cleaning our hostel. As I handle the hostel management I also took this responsibility.
As you can see the dirtiness and carelessness of us. So to eradicate it I have decided to work 2 hours. When I entered the kitchen there was a lot of smell of rotten melon peels. And there were unwashed plates, glasses, and dishes. The kitchen looked like a graveyard.
First of all, I took a plastic bag and collected all the rotten material and rappers from the shelves, then put all the dirty material into a single bag and threw it into the street TMA basket. In this whole process, I faced a lot of distortion which I would explain later.
My two to three hours of hardworking paid off. You can see the results of how everything is shining in its true form. This whole process is not as simple as it seems. The main challenge for me is to escape from the main distractor which is my mobile(social media). I spent one more hour at the estimated time for this task. Because I faced a lot of distractions that distract me from the way. And I did this job in 3 hours instead of 2 hours.
Furthermore, social media became the main distractor for everyone’s doing. Especially while reading a book students faced this issue. Basically, the Pomodoro technique tells us how we can escape from the habits of social media or other distractors.
So we have a number of different suggestions on how to reduce distraction in our life. I am not saying they need to be completely eliminated although all would be almost ideal in every situation, they should be reduced.
1: So the first suggestion is when working on any task, turn off your Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, and all other applications which distract you the most.
2: You should have to spend 2 hours a day focusing on nothing but the work.
3: When you decide to turn off your technology and devices then use that time to focus on something that’s really important.
By doing so we can completely remove the distraction and become super productive while doing any task.
This is a really powerful quote that says, Discipline yourself to treat technology as a servant, not a master.
